In such a vibrant and fast changing industry keeping your knowledge and skills up to date is something you can’t neglect. Our sales and support staff are no exception and Wednesday was a chance for us to freshen our knowledge on the Leica MultiStation (MS60), the inspect surfaces app and Leica’s Infinity software.
The power of the inspect surfaces app is to directly compare a model to a design in real time without having to leave the field to process data. The most often used example is a concrete pour, you can now set a reference plane and check the level of the pour before it’s started to dry. Then you can use the red laser on the instrument to indicate areas which need remedial action. There are other examples, maybe you want to compare a prefabricated object against its design? You can import the design data for the object and use that as your reference. Scan the object and you can immediately see how reality compares to the design.
Which ties nicely into Infinity’s BIM explorer and it’s handling of icf files. The growth of Building Information Management is slowly but surely increasing and its impact is being seen in surveying software across the industry. Leica Infinity is no exception and it’s was great to see how easy it was to combine BIM models with survey and scan data from the MS60.
The MS60 and Infinity are powerful measuring tools and we will no doubt be seeing them in the hands of AEC professionals who know when it needs to be right.
