Here at Opti-cal towers we love a software update and knowing that a new version of Leica’s Captivate software is around the corner is causing us to tingle in anticipation of the goodies it will hold. For once Leica have been teasing the contents of the update before its main release and there have been a couple of blog posts about what’s coming.
The update is tied to the release of the new (and frankly awesome) GS18T antenna with its patented IMU technology allowing you to lean the antenna and still take an accurate reading (more on this soon). However, there are lots of juicy improvements to get your teeth into as well.
Previously you could only nominate a single job as design data now though you can link several jobs together for a wider data set. You can set your working survey job as normal but link your DTM data, stakeout points and your stakeout lines all together and show them all at the same time or hide them away. You can even hide the jobs from the job carousel if you like it really tidy.
New hotkeys can be created that allow you to begin a line, arc or spline at the touch of a button and you can now keep Multi-coding on permanently and track several lines at once. Further hotkeys allow you to choose the nearest point to stake using a GS sensor, access the lights and accessories and access the ID templates have also been added.
There’s a specific inbuilt report sheet for stakeout functions, the hidden point function is now available within setup allowing you to use those otherwise unusable points and the speed that Captivate will handle large CAD files has been improved giving you a smoother experience.
Most importantly to us though, there is now a tick box that lets you view the passwords as you enter them. Bliss.
