One of the very first blog pieces I composed when joining Opti-cal was, about the great work that Waterloo Uncovered are doing on exploring the battlefields of Waterloo.
It is always a pleasure when I get to work with one of the country’s leading universities. This week found me at Loughborough University. The Civil Engineering department hired brand new TS06 Plus total stations from Opti-cal for their field course.
Waterloo uncovered is a uniquely designed project to transform our understanding of the Battle through archaeology. The project commenced in April 2015 which marks the Bicentenary year, with Geo-Physical Studies of the field being first on the agenda.
It is two hundred years since the battle of Waterloo and a ground breaking project is taking place to discover more about this momentous event in European history.
Whilst the battle is one of the most written about events in European history and has inspired numerous works of popular fiction, very little archaeology has been carried out on the battlefield itself.
