Last week, in amongst a flurry of new product releases from Leica Geosystems, came the quiet news that the GS08+ GNSS receiver has been phased out of production. The trusty robust dish has formed the backbone of the Opti-cal hire fleet for the last 5 years, and its predecessor the GS08 for the five years before that. Giving us trouble free measuring across the UK it shall be sorely missed.
To replace it we have the brand new GS07 receiver! Similar in weight and appearance to the GS08+ the GS07 increases the number of channels from 120 to 320, allowing it to track Galileo and Beidou signals on top of GPS and GLONASS. Instead of the CS15 Viva series controller you now get the Leica Captivate CS20 as standard which offers you a 5” WVGA touch screen, higher processing power and a very impressive 3D viewer. You can also add a CGR4 UHF expansion pack to your controller and use it with your own UHF base station.
While we haven’t seen the last of the GS08 quite yet, the changes are coming and you’ll be seeing the GS07 on your site soon.
