There’s a few nifty little features in version 2.60 of Leica’s software for their P series Laser Scanners so I thought I’d look at a few of them.
There’s now a spherical scan view available from the scanner interface. So instead of the flattened 2D planar view you used to see you can now whizz around a sphere which I think makes things a lot easier when picking your targets.
There’s a new settings panel which brings a lot of the hard to find settings into one place. You can now add atmospheric corrections and a scale factor (if that’s your bag), fiddle with temperature and pressure units, pick multiple targets from the video screen and add an elevation cut off if you’re using an iSTAR camera.
The highlight though is an extension of the simulator which allows you to not only control the scanner remotely from a computer but transfer data directly to that computer whilst you’re connected.
As ever the firmware and release notes are available here...
