David Clinch a Lead Engineer for Dong Energy recently purchased a Leica Geosystems TS16i 1” Total Station and CS20 Field Controller.
This equipment will be used on their Energy Renewable site in Walpole, the site takes its energy from Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm.
The Wind Farm can power nearly 460,000 UK homes annually, with 91 turbines and has the potential to save over 830,000 tonnes of C02, the equivalent to the amount of C02 emitted by 390,000 cars in a year.
The Wind Farm is owned and managed by Dong Energy and is located 16.8 miles off Blakeney Point on the North Norfolk cost and 17.4 miles off the Lincolnshire cost at Chapel St Leonards, covering an area of approximately 29 square miles.
Export cables 6.8 miles long, connect the offshore wind farm with the onshore substation, the cables run in a southerly direction and connect east of the mouth of the River Nene and 3.7 miles north-northeast of Sutton Bridge.
Dave will be using the equipment to survey the whole area to ensure smooth operation of the 25-year operational project.
