Tracking the levels of dust, noise and vibration is important on any worksite, and fitting an environment meter to monitor these readings in the long-term is a good way of ensuring emissions stay at a reasonable level throughout work taking place.
This is how we helped one of our customers:
We initially had a meeting with a customer’s health and safety personnel to give an overview of the Casella Guardian 2 Multi-Agent Monitoring Station. A couple of days later he gave us instructions to supply one unit to a site in Sunderland.
The site was a new housing development where our customer was the main civil engineering and drainage contractor. They were getting some pressure from a local resident’s group who were opposed to the new development and were continually complaining about the levels of dust, vibration and noise. The local council environmental office had visited the site on at least one occasion as a result of the residents’ concerns.
The Guardian 2 was installed on the site boundary, positioned between the source of the dust, vibration, noise and the residents’ properties. Following the install, our customer had a means of analysing the data and producing any relevant reports to ensure site emission levels are kept to a compliant level, therefore allowing the customer to carry out their work more effectively, with as little disturbance to the neighbours as possible.
We have since touched base with the Sunderland Council Environmental Officer, to make her aware of what equipment was installed on site and who the provider was.
